CORPORAL SHAWNE WAHLERT – CORRECTION BUREAU (2015-PRESENT)

Hays County Law Enforcement Association members and colleagues,

My name is Shawne Wahlert and this year I am running for the Hays County Law Enforcement Association Executive Board for the Secretary position.  I am currently an active member and have over 22 years of experience in the corrections field. During my career, I have held the positions of corrections officer, jail operations corporal, and I am currently the corporal over our support services division of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Bureau.   I hold a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Master Jailer’s license, along with certifications as a Field Training Officer, Instructor, and Background Investigator. 

During my eight-year tenure with the Hays County Sheriff’s office, and previous fourteen-year experience with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office I have awareness and understanding of the issues encountered in corrections.  I am asking for the opportunity to put over two decades of experience into helping and taking an active role in the future of this organization. I have experienced the highs and lows of Law Enforcement/Corrections and have strived to always stay positive, motivated, and support my fellow officers. I have a strong desire to help drive this association in the direction that best serves its members and missions that it was originally created to do and more. For this reason, I respectfully ask for your support to be elected to serve all of you.  I am excited to be given this opportunity to run for the Secretary seat of our HCLEA Executive Board.
